My project is about Villa Mairea,which is designed by Alvar Aalto. This is my 1:50 model in part a, which is the ground floor of the west wing of Villa Mairea. The model including the entrance of the whole building, the major living room, Library and piano room and internal garden. I chose this part to present in part a,because i think it can represent a continuous movement of a guest or the owner inside the building.The 1:50 drawing of ground floor shows the details of chosen part. By using models and drawings we can easily see the features of this part.
For part b, i just using drawings and models to represent the strategies of Villa Mairea.
Firstly, it is the structural logic of villa mairea. I drawing the picture to show the grids and structure. We can see those columns are forming a grid, they have patterns and they are continuous. Some place may be replaced by walls. But the strong ideas of structural and grid represent the internal structure logic of villa mairea.
And this 1:100 model of villa mairea shows the relationship between the chosen part in part a and whole building. Because it is relative public area. The opening windows will provide wider vision of people inside, and relative private space including the first floor and another side of building. I used the solid and enclosed walls to represent its privacy.
My last part is about the elevations of whole building. You can see the continuous of outside walls and the transition from more private space to public space, and how architect can keep the consistency of places which have same functions.
